Decline rate

The decline rates are divided into two categories:

  • Fraugster decline rate refers to the transactions declined by Fraugster, i.e. either by the Fraugster Engine (for Chargeback Protection and Fraud Decisions as a Service users) or by the rules (for Fraud Management SaaS users). Transactions contributing to this KPI received decision = 0 in the Fraugster API response. Read more in API reponse.
  • Issuer decline rate refers to transactions declined by the issuer or a different fraud detections solution following Fraugster’s decision (status = ).

Fraugster decline rate (value)

The Fraugster decline rate (value) is calculated by dividing the total value of transactions with the decision declined by the total value of incoming transactions.

Example:

The total value of incoming transactions = 120,000 EUR

The total value of transactions with the decision declined = 3,620 EUR

Fraugster decline rate (value): (3,620 / 120,000) * 100% = 3.02%

Fraugster decline rate (count)

The Fraugster decline rate (count) is calculated by dividing the total number of transactions with the decision declined by the total number of incoming transactions.

Example:

The total number of incoming transactions = 360,000

The total number of transactions with decision declined = 4,700

Fraugster decline rate (count): (4,700 / 360,000) * 100% = 1.3%

Issuer decline rate (value)

The issuer decline rate (value) is calculated by dividing the total value of transactions with the status declined by the total value of incoming transactions.

Example:

The total value of incoming transactions = 120,000 EUR

The total value of transactions with status declined = 5,200 EUR

Issuer decline rate (value): (5,200 / 120,000) * 100% = 4.33%

Issuer decline rate (count)

The Issuer decline rate (count) is calculated by dividing the total number of transactions with the status declined by the total number of incoming transactions.

Example:

The total number of incoming transactions = 260,000

The total number of transactions with decision declined = 4,800

Issuer decline rate (count): (4,800 / 260,000) * 100% = 1.85%

Total declined

Total declined represents the number or value of declined transactions after both Fraugster and the issuer have had a chance to decline transactions.
