Write rule logic

Now that you learned about the essential components of a rule, let's put the pieces together and see how you create one.
Go to Rules in the side navigation and select .
In the Rule details section, add a name and description for the rule, as well as labels. To find out more about the name, description, and labels, check Rule properties.
In the Rule logic section, choose if you want to create a rule from scratch, or use one of the available templates.
Select an action that the rule should apply to a transaction. Actions include approve, decline, watch, manual review, PSD2 exemption, or custom. Read more about rule actions in Rule properties.
Next, select a priority for the rule to define the rule's importance in relation to other rules.
Please note: Rules with high priority take over rules with low priority. If rules that have the same level of priority apply to a transaction at once, then rules that approve take priority over the rules that decline; rules that decline take priority over rules that mark for review.
Select . In the dialogue window, search for an attribute or datapoint, or use keywords to find what you are looking for. View an item in detail – the description helps you figure out what a variable does. Details also include explanations for logic operators and possible values (if the datapoint or attribute has the data type). Select an item to add it to the statement.
Next, select an operator. The choice of operators in the drop-down list differs depending on the variable you selected.
Depending on the operator you selected, you are prompted to:

– Or select a that defines your statement. Make your input case-sensitive by selecting the checkbox.
Add another statement to the rule logic if necessary by selecting or . You need to select a logic operator to combine your statements. Each rule can have one or more statements inside the logic, depending on its complexity.

The draft of the rule has been created. As an Admin, Senior Analyst, or Analyst, you can submit drafts for approval by selecting at the bottom of the page. Read more on approval in Publishing process.
Tips on rule creation
- Use to drag and drop a statement within the rule logic. This helps you reorder statements quickly. Please note: Reordering statements changes the rule logic, so we don't keep the previously selected logic operators. You need to select an operator again to connect the statements in the new order.
- Use to add a statement in between other statements. You can add a condition or a group this way.
- Use to remove a statement from the rule logic.
- Use in the top-right corner of the page if you want to edit the details of the existing draft or delete it.
